Family dog saves owners from gunfire during road rage incident (VIDEO)

When a road rage incident in Atlanta over the weekend escalated into gunfire, one family would have likely been caught in the crossfire had it not been for their German Shepard, Noah.

According to authorities, the road rage incident involved two other vehicles and the family with the dog were innocent bystanders. The bullets intended for the second vehicle peppered the family’s Suburban instead, but witnesses said the family’s dog jumped in front of the woman and her children, essentially protecting them from the shower of bullets.

The dog then leaped from the Suburban and chased the suspect’s car before he eventually laid down in a nearby yard and died.

“They were fired upon and their family was terrorized,” said Atlanta police Sgt.Gregory Lyon. “They survived that only to find that their pet is now gone. It’s sad for the whole family, especially the day after Thanksgiving.”

No arrests have been made in the incident and no other injuries were reported.
