Battlefield Hardline beta testing to launch ‘sooner than you think,’ game developer says (VIDEO)

Details have come to light in the newest multiplayer beta launch for Battlefield Hardline, a first-person shooter that puts players in control of gun-toting cops and criminals.

Developer Visceral Games announced on Wednesday that the game’s second beta would be released on all platforms – PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360 and PC  “sooner than you think,” GameSpot reported. What that means is unclear at this point, but the game is scheduled for release March 17.

The game’s co-developer, DICE, put out a beta first on PC and PS4 systems in June. Hardline was originally scheduled for an October 2014 release, but was delayed so it could be improved.

The new beta test won’t cap progression like some unfinished betas, which means players will be able to unlock all character classes, weapons and gadgets during testing, IGN reported.

“While it’s just a taste of the whole game, we want you to come in, take your jacket off, stay awhile,” said executive producer Steve Papoutsis.
