Four suspects try to rob National Guardsman and fail (VIDEO)

An attempted robbery at a Dekalb County, Georgia, Sonic Drive-In Sunday night didn’t quite go as planned when the would-be victim turned out to be an armed National Guardsman.

Four young men, at least one of whom was armed with a gun, approached Joseph Toombs as he sat in the drive-thru waiting to order some grub. The gang demanded money from Toombs, but instead of grabbing for cash, Toombs grabbed his own gun and opened fire on the suspects, striking one, and sending the remaining three fleeing from the scene.

The injured suspect, later identified as 19-year-old Kenneth Brayboy, was taken to nearby hospital where he later died.

A second suspect, 17-year-old Desmond McKnight, was later apprehended by authorities and was charged with murder, criminal attempt to commit armed robbery and tampering with evidence.

The remaining two suspects are still at large.
