Night Optics scores $8.7 million military contract

Night Optics Inc. will be making $8.7 million contract through the Foreign Military Sales program to produce night vision monoculars for the Jordanian military.

The Department of Defense announced contract on March 18, and the Huntington Beach-based company has an estimated completion date of Aug. 16.

The equipment, called PVS-14, or the Sentry 14, has been in service U.S. and NATO forces since 2000. It mounts to a users helmet, but can also attach to a service rifle.

The contract requires the company to produce 2,000 units, but the contract price would cover roughly 2,400 units at retail price, so the government will likely save about $1.6 million.
