Chicago Uber driver with CCL stops gunman

A man accused of shooting at a group of pedestrians in Chicago’s Logan Square late Friday night was stopped thanks to a gun-weilding Uber driver who shot the suspect after witnessing the incident.

22-year-old Everardo Custodio apparently opened fired just before midnight, but the driver, who has only been identitifed as a 47-year-old resident of Little Italy, pulled out his own gun and fired six shots, striking Custodio several times. No one else was injured during the exchange of gunfire.

When officers arrived, they found Custodio lying on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds to his leg, torso and back. He was transported to the hospital for medical treatment and is now being held without bond and faces charges for aggravates assault and unlawful use of a weapon.

Authorities confirmed that the Uber driver had a valid FOID and concealed carry license and will not face any charges.
