Hickok45 and a 115-year-old Mosin-Nagant (VIDEO)

Everyone’s favorite backyard marksman Hickok45 goes old-school with a 1900 Tula-marked Mosin-Nagant rifle.

Designed by Captain Sergei Mosin and Léon Nagant, the Tsarist Russan M91 Vintovka Mosina was a steel and arctic birch-clad beast that stood as tall as the Ivan who carried it– especially when topped by its spike bayonet. Most collectors in the U.S. are familiar with the M91/30 and M44 carbines which, while chunky in their own right, are much more compact than the OG Tula that Hick got his hands on.

Interestingly, his example is Finnish-marked and still has the Romanov Imperial Eagles which would tend to indicate it was captured in 1918 in the Finn’s conscious uncoupling from Mother Russia then later sold on the surplus market, probably in the 1980s.

Once Hick gets to firing it, you can see why the Finns held on to it.
