A 35-year-old homeless woman was arrested Sunday on suspicion of second-degree degree robbery in connection to a Honolulu bank robbery, and the suspect, Nicole Gillespie, is the stepdaughter of Duane Chapman, also known as “Dog the Bounty Hunter.”
Duane and Beth Chapman said although they have not seen “Nickie” in more than 10 years, but the news nonetheless left them both “shocked and heartbroken.”
“It’s always difficult and disheartening when someone you knew as a child grows up and chooses a life of crime,” the couple said in a statement.
Gillespie is accused of robbing the Territorial Savings Bank on the morning of Sept. 3., in which she allegedly gave the teller a note before fleeing on foot. Surveillance cameras captured images of Gillespie, who was formally charged Tuesday.
