Man fatally shot after strangling ex-girlfriend (VIDEO)

A Cleveland man is dead after he was shot by a friend of his former girlfriend during a violent home invasion and assault.

Police say the suspect, who was later identified as Cedric Grier, 28, showed up at his ex-girlfriend’s apartment Wednesday night and repeatedly pounded on her door. But when his knocks went unanswered, Grier kicked in the door.

Once inside, Grier flew into a violent rage and began destroying items inside the apartment before turning his attentions toward the ex-girlfriend, whom he strangled until she became unconscious. Grier then ran towards another man who was in the apartment, but that man – who was armed with a gun – shot Grier in the chest.

When authorities arrived a short time later, they found Grier outside of the apartment, lying at the top of a stairway. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
