Ever see a 10-bore flintlock rifle in action? (VIDEO)

Ian over at Forgotten Weapons met up with Mike Carrick of Arms Heritage Magazine and managed to get schooled on a .775-caliber smoke pole.

Carrick has a traditional flintlock based on a 1790s English 10-bore big game rifle. Setting off 200 grains of FFF black powder rockets out the massive 660-grain (1.5 ounce) lead ball at some 1,584 fps, generating well over 3,500 ft./lbs of energy downrange.

For comparison, most of your standard .30-06 loads will produce about 2,900~ ish in the energy department.

But you don’t see a 3/4-inch wide 660-grain .30-06 bullet though, do you?
