Louisville dad cleared of charges in drone shooting (VIDEO)

A Louisville father who was arrested in July after shooting down a drone that hovered a little too long in the back yard above his sunbathing daughters was cleared of all charges Monday.

“He didn’t just fly over. If he had been moving and just kept moving, that would have been one thing, but when he come (sic) directly over our heads, and just hovered there, I felt like I had the right,” William Merideth explained.

Merideth said he wasn’t sure if the drone was watching his girls or looking for something to steal, but either way, he felt it was the same as trespassing, and Judge Rebecca Ward agreed, despite the owner of the drone, David Boggs, denying any allegations.

“I think it’s credible testimony that his drone was hovering from anywhere, for two or three times over these people’s property, that it was an invasion of their privacy and that they had the right to shoot this drone,” Ward said.

Boggs, who was shocked by the ruling, plans to appeal the judge’s decision.
