Tensions explode during town meeting over new mosque (VIDEO)

A public meeting in Spotsylvania, Virginia, was ended by a sheriff’s deputy when talk surrounding plans to build a new mosque were interrupted by a group who lashed out against those wanting the new building.

“What we looking at this, this is evil,” one man said, interrupting another individual who was discussing the need for a bigger mosque because the local Islamic community had outgrown their current building.

Soon thereafter, others joined in to express their discontent with the idea.

“I will do everything in my power to make sure that does not happen, because you are terrorists,” another man said. “Every single one of you is a terrorist. I don’t care what you say.”

“You can smile at me, you can say what you want, but every Muslim is a terrorist,” he reiterated.

Samer Shalaby described the incident as mob-like, with people pointing fingers and waving their arms around.

“It is so sad that people are so ignorant, and unfortunately I understand their fear, all of us have fear, including the Muslims,” said Munira Salim Abdalla, who filmed the incident. “Because the people who did what they did are not Muslims.”

In the end, the meeting was called to an end by a sheriff’s deputy, but not before Abdalla added one last comment.

“Why did your great grandparents come here? Because of religious persecution and that’s exactly what you are doing to us,” Abdalla said. “We try to do everything nice to please God, to please humanity.”
