Ax-wielding woman shot by police attempting to serve eviction *GRAPHIC* (VIDEO)

A woman was fatally shot by police in Gallatin, Tennessee, Wednesday after she came at officers swinging a medieval-style ax as they attempted to evict her from the house where she was living.

Sumner County sheriff’s deputy Gary Pickard went with officials from the housing authority to serve the eviction to 40-year-old Laronda Sweatt. The woman became combative, so Deputy Pickard called for backup.

As Gallatin Officer James Spray arrived on the scene, Sweatt immediately approached him as she held the ax. Sweatt moved toward Spray very quickly and when she began to lift the ax, as if readying to swing it, Officer Spray shot her.

Sweatt was transported to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The entire interaction between Officer Spray and Sweatt, which was caught on dash cam, lasted less than 30 seconds.
