US has 4 of the most violent cities in the world

The Mexico Citizens Council for Public Security named the 50 most violent cities in the world and while cities in Latin America made up an overwhelming 41 of the 50, the United States had a few in the mix as well.

New Orleans

New Orleans ranked number 32, with 41.44 homicides per 100,000 residents.


Detroit came in at number 28, with 43.89 homicides per 100,000 residents.


Baltimore ranked number 19, with 54.98 homicides per 100,000 residents.

St. Louis

St. Louis was named the most violent city in the United States, coming in at number 15 worldwide, with 59.23 homicides per 100,000 residents.

Although not in the United States, Caracas, Venezuela, took the top spot as the most violent city in the world with 119.87 homicides per 100,000 residents.
