8 in custody after failed gun store burglary, 30 mile pursuit (VIDEO)

An early morning attempted burglary of a gun shop in Lebanon, Tennessee, Monday landed eight people in jail after a 30-mile high speed chase.

An officer on patrol noticed what appeared to be suspicious activity around 3 a.m. at the Lebanon Gun Shop. As the officer approached the building, the suspects fled on foot.

β€œI think that we foiled their plans, there were markings on the doors that looked like they may have tried, but our officer rolled up on them before they made entry,” Cpl. PJ Hardy said.

The foot pursuit soon led to a car chase, with several of the suspects in a stolen vehicle. As the car chase unrolled, authorities received a call about an armed robbery, but upon responding to that call discovered the so-called victim was actually another suspect involved in the burglary. It’s unknown if the stolen vehicle belonged to that individual or someone else. The chase led authorities 30 miles from the initial location, into Nashville.

One of the suspects again fled on foot but was promptly bitten by a K-9. He remains in the hospital recovering from his injuries. Four more suspects attempted to hide in a nearby house, but were found and apprehended. Two additional suspects were later found and detained as well.
