Interview on gun violence in New Orleans interrupted by violent outburst (VIDEO)

Reporters from New Orleans got a first-hand look at how quickly things can escalate on the streets of one of the violent cities in the country.

WWL-TV was creating a documentary on the city’s gun violence and as one journalist was talking with a few local residents – on camera – a confrontation quickly erupted with another man, who was apparently irritated that the group was in front of the camera.

The incident turned violent as punches were thrown, a young boy standing nearby, witnessing the entire ordeal. Moments later, a gun was pulled into the mix, as Althea Philips, who lives nearby and lost four sons to gun violence, started yelling, “This is where the killing starts.”

In the end, no one was seriously injured, although things could have been a lot worse.

The confrontation starts just after the 4:00 mark.
