Smith & Wesson releases M&P 15-22 Sport now with Magpul accessories

Smith & Wesson joins forces with Magpul to bring consumers an updated take on the popular M&P 15-22 Sport rifle. The M&P 15-22 Sport Magpul Original Equipment Slim Line, MOE SL for short, builds upon the M&P 15-22 line with the addition of Magpul accessories.

This .22LR semi-auto blowback rifle features MOE SL Mil-Spec carbine stock and pistol grip as well as M-LOK Type 2 rail covers.

The MOE SL stock uses an angled rubber butt pad providing an anti-slip surface and increasing impact protection. It also has a push button quick disconnect socket and sling loops. The MOE SL grip is a slimmer width grip that offers a beavertail backstrap. Both the pistol grip and M-LOK Type 2 rail covers are heavily textured for better control. Rounding out the Magpul furniture is a pair of MBUS front and rear sights.

Jan Mladek, General Manager of Smith & Wesson’s M&P brand, said the company is always looking to expand on the popular rifle line. “As we continue to offer shooters enhanced features and control on a factory built platform, we are especially excited about this new addition to our extremely popular family of M&P 15-22 Sport rifles,” Mladek said in a statement.

The MOE SL line builds on the Smith & Wesson 15-22 Sport series. The line’s basic breakdown is 16.5 inch barrel with polymer upper and lower receivers bringing overall length in at just under 34-inches. The M&P 15-22 is a lightweight rifle, tipping scales at just over 4.5 pounds.

Smith & Wesson says this rifle is an ideal choice for a training firearm in both law enforcement and civilian sectors. Training firearms have become a popular option for shooters. Lightweight rimfire training rifles outfitted with the same functions and aesthetics as their centerfire counterparts offer reduced recoil and bridge that gap between dry fire practice and actual range time. An added benefit to these training rifles is the low cost of .22 ammo, allowing shooters to send more rounds downrange without breaking the bank.

The MOE SL is offered in one of two colors, basic black and flat dark earth. Sold with a limited warranty and and lifetime service policy MSRP is $499.
