Mother charged after boy accidentally shoots, kills 4-year-old brother

A 22-year-old woman is behind bars after authorities say her 6-year-old child shot and killed his 4-year-old brother while playing with a gun in their East Orange, New Jersey, home over the weekend.
The toddler was shot in the head around 11:00 a.m. Saturday, then rushed to the hospital. At 4:26 p.m., he was pronounced dead.
The gun apparently belonged to the children’s mother, Itiyanah Spruill, but it wasn’t immediately known how the boy got ahold of the weapon.
Spruill was charged with endangering the welfare of a child and a weapons violation. She is being held on a $310,000 bail.
