MA teens raise money for deceased officer’s family through street hockey tournament

Dot Pot

The Boston Police Department recognized the efforts of three teens Thursday who have so far raised $10,000 for a deceased officer’s family through a street hockey tournament they organized themselves.

Peter Cahill, Timmy Galvin and Ryan Sweeney, all of Dorchester, started the tournament dubbed “Dot Pot” last year as a means to raise money for a friend whose father was diagnosed with cancer. The tournament was a success, so the teens decided to give it another go this year.

So far, the Dot Pot has raised about $10,000 and the teens plan to donate this year’s funds to the family of Boston Police Officer Michael Bike, who took his own life in May. Baker left behind three children and a wife, who was just recently diagnosed with cancer.
