NRA launches $3 million anti-Clinton ad buy (VIDEO)

The National Rifle Association’s Political Victory Fund released a new anti-Hillary Clinton ad Tuesday, the same day her political opponent Donald Trump rallied “Second Amendment people” to take action.

“She’s one of the wealthiest women in politics. Combined income: $30 million. Tours the world on private jets,” says the narrator in his deep voice as a seductive beat steadily thumps in the background.

He continues: “Protected by armed guards for 30 years. But she doesn’t believe in your right to keep a gun at home for self-defense,”

The ad shows an actress wearing Clinton’s quintessential pink jacket and blonde moused quiff being served on a jet as she’s watching a recorded Clinton interview on TV. “An out-of-touch hypocrite. She’d leave you defenseless,” the narrator concludes.

The gun lobby, which endorsed Trump in May, launched its anti-Clinton campaign at its 2015 convention when NRA leaders broadly derided her. However, the organization narrowed its criticism to focus on the influence she would have over the Supreme Court if elected president. The NRA worries the high court under a Clinton Administration would overturn or rule against pro-gun cases.

The ad launched the same day Trump drew criticism for saying “Second Amendment people” could do something to stop Clinton from nominating a ninth Justice and likely two more later during her term. Political opponents interpreted it as a threat while Trump’s campaign later clarified he meant gun owners could stop her by voting.

This the second time the NRA released an anti-Clinton ad under an awkward setting. In June, the gun lobby released a TV spot showcasing Benghazi veteran Mark “Oz” Geist chiding Clinton for her handling of the 2012 attack on the U.S. Embassy in Libya. The release was undermined by the results of a two-year investigation on the attack by House Republicans that failed to show wrongdoing by the former Secretary of State.

The NRA’s PAC has spent approximately $6 million on a series of ads boosting Donald Trump during the presidential cycle, USA Today reported.
