Gun beats hammer in violent domestic dispute (VIDEO)

A violent domestic dispute involving a hammer attack in St. Louis late Thursday night was stopped by a man who was armed with a gun.

The incident occurred around 11:45 p.m. when the female victim’s boyfriend, Gary Peters, 48, attacked her, striking her repeatedly in the head with a hammer. But when Peters’ brother, who was also at the home, realized what was happening, he retrieved a firearm and tried to intervene. At that point, Peters became further infuriated and turned on his brother. The brother, in turn, shot Peters in the stomach.

Peters was rushed to the hospital, where he died from his injuries. The woman was also treated for blunt force trauma to the head. The brother, who was questioned and released, was not injured.
