A Tulsa woman who was shot during a robbery over the summer recently got a new wheelchair ramp at her home thanks to the help of some volunteers.

The project was put together by Rebuilding Together Tulsa, an organization dedicated to providing free home repairs for residents in need.

The woman, who only wanted to be identified as Julie, was the victim of a robbery outside of her home in July. As she got into her car, on her way to the grocery store, she was attacked by three men. The incident left her wheelchair bound after she was shot in the back.

Julie said it’s been tough keeping up with her family, as well as her teaching job at a local school, but having the wheelchair ramp will help her to more easily stay active and involved.

She said the support she’s received since the shooting has helped to restore her faith in people once again.
