Part-time cop loses 2 jobs after posting Snap Chat with racial slur (VIDEO)

A female police officer who was working part-time for two different departments in Pennsylvania is no longer associated with either agency after a photo of her with a racial slur surfaced.

As reported by Pittsburgh ABC affiliate WTAE, Melissa Adamson worked for police departments in McKeesport and Versailles until a Snap Chat of her in uniform circulated online with the caption “I’m the law today n____a.”

This quickly left her without a job.

“Without hesitation, my office and the police chief’s office immediately concluded that this officer’s actions will not be tolerated in the City of McKeesport,” wrote McKeesport Mayor Michael Cherepko in a post to social media on Tuesday. “She has been relieved of her duties, and her employment has been terminated.”

Cherepko wrote that Adamson had only briefly been on the job and was “in training as a probationary employee for just a few weeks.”

Versailles Police Chief Charles Roka said Adamson resigned from the department this week.

As for Adamson, she says the picture wasn’t meant the way it is being interpreted, and that is was a “stupid mistake” circulated by someone with a grudge against her. The picture was taken while she worked for the city of Pitcairn and was apparently taken several months ago.

“I’m sorry for who I did offend. It was not my intention,” she says in the above video from WTAE. “I can’t express how sorry I am for how I made you feel — emotionally, physically. Again, it wasn’t my intention.”
