Body cam released of police shooting that killed 6-year-old autistic boy (VIDEO)

WAFB 9 News Baton Rouge, Louisiana News, Weather, Sports

Body cam footage was released this week showing the moments leading up to an officer involved shooting in Marksville, Louisiana, last November that left a 6-year-old autistic boy dead, and the details depicted in the video are nothing short of disturbing.

There are conflicting reports about why the driver, Chris Few, was stopped in the first place, but seconds before gunshots are heard, Few’s hands are clearly raised outside of the driver’s side window. Officers claim Few was driving erratically while leading them on a two-mile chase and rammed into a patrol car. But dash cam – if available – has not been released at this time.

While Few has his vehicle stopped on the side of the road, the two officers – Derrick Stafford and Norris Greenhouse – unloaded 18 rounds into his car. It wasn’t until the officers later approached the vehicle that they discovered Few’s 6-year-old son, Jeremy Mardis, was in the back seat. The discovery left at least one of the officers physically sick.

The boy was shot five times and pronounced dead at the scene. Few, though seriously injured, survived. Stafford and Greenhouse are both currently on trial for second-degree murder.

Additional footage, including the discovery of the boy’s lifeless body, can be seen here and here, but be forewarned, the videos are extremely graphic.
