Woman charged for shooting death of 75-year-old husband

Authorities in Alexandria, Virginia, are investigating a Wednesday morning shooting that left a 75-year-old man dead with his wife accused of killing him.

Officers were called to the scene in the upscale neighborhood around 10:45 a.m. They found Rolf Marshall, 75, inside the house suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. Rolf was taken to the hospital where he died less than an hour later.

Authorities arrested Rolf’s wife, Paula Marshall, 47, and charged her with murder.

Police aren’t releasing many details at this point, but those acquainted with the couple said Rolf had been sick for some time, undergone numerous surgeries and had recently been in and out of the hospital.
