Gun community goes pink for breast cancer awareness

Every year manufacturers from across the industry join together in the month of October to raise awareness for breast cancer.

Breast cancer is one of the most common types of cancer in women with an estimated 2.8 million women impacted by the disease. The Breast Cancer Foundation estimates that 307,660 women will be diagnosed this year with the illness.

Taking the fight to the proverbial streets, these companies are lending their voices and funds to education, research and prevention in the hopes of making a difference among women and men impacted by the disease.

Gun Broker has joined with Springfield Armory, LaserLyte and Crossbreed to auction off a pistol package in honor of breast cancer awareness. A Springfield Mod.2 chambered in 9mm with a LaserLyte Lyte Ryder and a Crossbreed SuperTuck inside-the-waistband holster are all up for grabs.

All proceeds from the sale will go directly to the Atlanta Two-Day Walk for Breast Cancer event. The event is an annual 30 mile, two day walk to raise funds for breast cancer education, screening and support services for Georgians.

Bidders have until Oct. 23 to get in on the action. Bidding was at nearly $500 at the time of publication.

As one of the only companies in the industry manufacturing bra holsters, it seems fitting that Flashbang would donate some funds to breast cancer research. The holster maker is offering up a special pink version of their namesake holster the Flashbang.

The Flashbang is designed for deep concealment and features a hard plastic clamshell that safely retains the firearm underneath the bra. Pink holsters can be ordered for either left or right draw and have myriad gun model options to choose. The pink edition FlashBangs are available starting at $49.99.

Flashbang pledges to donate $1 from every pink holster purchase to the Oklahoma Project Woman. The foundation provides free mammograms, diagnostic procedures and surgical services to Oklahoma women with limited financial resources.

JM4 Tactical announced yesterday that a special pink Quick Click and Carry holster is up for sale, with a portion of the proceeds going to The American Cancer Society.

The QCC is made with veg tanned leather, free of chrome salt. Using magnetic retention to hold the firearm in place, the QCC allows men and women to carry concealed without the need for a belt.

In addition to the holster, buyers will also be entered to win a custom belt that matches the special breast cancer edition QCC. JM4Tactical’s pink model QCC holster retails for $84.95.

Tactical flashlight maker Streamlight is also going pink for October. Aside from changing its Facebook profile pictures to a pink version of its logo, the company is also selling a limited edition Siege lantern in the color pink.

With a rugged, compact design, the Siege operates off AA batteries and features both a White LED as well as a red LED.

Streamlight says it intends to donate $2 for every pink Siege sold to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The BCRF’s mission is to advance research and, ultimately, eradicate breast cancer.

The Siege is available for $27.99.
