Former congressman says he'll grab musket if Trump loses

Former Illinois Rep. Joe Walsh seemed to be calling for armed revolution Wednesday when he tweeted about grabbing his musket in the event of a Donald Trump loss.

“On November 8th, I’m voting for Trump. On November 9th, if Trump loses, I’m grabbing my musket. You in?” tweeted Walsh, a one term Tea Party congressman turned conservative talk show host.

When CNN’s Jake Tapper asked Walsh on Twitter to clarify his comment, Walsh said, “It means protesting. Participating in acts of civil disobedience. Doing what it takes to get our country back.”

The inflammatory comments come as the Republican presidential candidate continues to insist the election is rigged against him, and far right groups call for polling places to be closely watched.

This isn’t the first time Walsh has turned to Twitter to spark up controversy. In July, after a shooting left five officers killed in Dallas, Walsh told President Barack Obama to “watch out” in a tweet.

“3 Dallas Cops killed, 7 wounded. This is now war. Watch out Obama. Watch out black lives matter punks. Real America is coming after you,” he wrote.

Walsh edged out incumbent Democrat Melissa Bean by 291 votes in the 2010 election. Walsh’s district was redrawn for the 2012 election and he lost to Democrat Tammy Duckworth.

In 2011, his ex-wife sued him for more than $100,000 in unpaid child support. They resolved the suit in 2012, and his wife said he was never a “deadbeat dad.”
