Group adds Ohio State terrorist to list of 'people of color killed by police'

A group of student activists have added the name of the Somali refugee who injured 11 on campus and was shot by responding police to a memorial list of minorities killed by cops.

As reported by The Lantern, the student media outlet of Ohio State University, the OSU Coalition for Black Liberation listed the attacker who used his car and a butcher knife to send nearly a dozen to the hospital on Nov. 28 on a memorial list of names of people of color killed by police.

“In some cases, the deceased may have committed acts of violence against others before they were killed,” said Maryam Abidi, a fourth-year student in women’s, gender and sexuality studies. “Perhaps they were domestic abusers, perhaps they threatened or killed others. This possibility is not something to shy away from. The protest against police brutality extends to the innocent and the guilty alike, because we know that no matter the crime, justice and due process don’t come from a cop’s bullet.”

While the Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack, saying the Somali who spent seven years in a refugee camp in Pakistan was one of its “soldiers,” the Federal Bureau of Investigation said the man was off their radar at the time but may have been inspired by al Qaeda-linked clerics.

U.S. Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley, a powerful Republican, on Thursday sent a letter to the Department of Homeland Security concerned that refugee vetting fell short in the case of the Ohio State attacker.
