Suicidal man killed by cops on Christmas Day (VIDEO)

A 61-year-old man was fatally shot outside of his Clay County, Florida, home Christmas Day after calling the police to say he was suicidal.

Police received a call from Michael Altice around 12:30 p.m., who declared that he wanted to kill officers and commit suicide by cop.

When deputies arrived at Altice’s home, he emerged from a motor home armed with a handgun and pointed it at the responding officers. According to Clay County Sheriff Rick Beseler, Altice then ignored numerous commands to put the gun down and as he continued to threaten the deputies, Altice was shot multiple times.

Altice died as a result of his injuries. While Beseler said he feels bad for everyone involved, he also noted, “If you point a gun at a police officer, you are going to get shot.”

Beseler believes Altice, who had an extensive criminal history, was suffering from mental health issues at the time, which were likely intensified by the holiday season. Beseler also said Altice had recently been fighting with family members.
