Texas-based Horizon Firearms presented the new Endeavor HZ to backcountry hunters and hikers last week at the Dallas Safari Club Convention.

Built on the lightweight Iota Outdoors Krux rifle stock in Citadel Grey, the Endeavor HZ tips scales at just over 6 pounds. The long gun comes with a wide swath of chamberings to choose from that include 6.5 Creedmoor, 22 Creedmoor, 6 Creedmoor, 26 Nosler, 7 Rem Mag and 300 Win Mag.

Extra bonuses on the rifle include a Sendero profile carbon fiber Proof Research barrel, Timney Calvin Elite trigger and threaded muzzle.

Touting a $4,999 MSRP, the Endeavor HZ isn’t cheap, but the price is worth it according to the company. Derrick Ratliff, founder and president of Horizon Firearms, said he feels the company has struck a perfect balance between agility and durability — one that consumers can appreciate.

“There’s always had to be a tradeoff with ultralight rifles – sacrificing repeatability for the sake of weight. But you don’t always have to compromise,” Ratliff said in a statement. “The Endeavor HZ is the best of both worlds using a stock that’s compact and lightweight but with a durable enough structure to accommodate that repeatable barrel and action build.”

Though Dallas Safari Club convention attendees got the first look at the new Endeavor HZ, SHOT Show attendees will see the new ultralight rifle in person in Las Vegas next week.
