German hunter finds frozen fox in river

While hunting near the upper reaches of German’s Danube River earlier this month, a man discovered a fox that had apparently become trapped in the icy river and died.

The animal was cut out of the river on Jan. 2 and the block of ice encapsulating its body remains on display outside of a Fridingen hotel. Hotel owner Franz Stehle said it’s a statement warning others of the possible dangers of the icy river.

According to Stehle, finding animals in the frozen isn’t all that unusual. In fact, he said he’s seen deer and wild boar in the past.
