Smith & Wesson boasts new Performance Center M&P products for 2017

Smith & Wesson’s Performance Center gets a boost with new M&P branded rifles, pistols and slide kits set to hit dealer shelves in 2017.

The M&P10 6.5 Creedmoor, M&P15 Competition rifle, Performance Center M&P45, Performance Center C.O.R.E. Slide Kit will all being shipping this year, offering more options to M&P fans.

The M&P10 6.5 Creedmoor features a precision, two-stage match trigger with a 15-inch free-float Troy Alpha Rail, M-LOK handguard and Magpul buttstock and pistol grip. The threaded 20-inch barrel can accept silencers for quieter shooting in the field. The M&P10 6.5 Creedmoor retails for $2,035.

The M&P15 Competition rifle answers the call of three-gun competitors. Chambered in 5.56mm NATO/.223, the rifle comes standard with a Performance Center muzzle brake, two stage match trigger, and Troy Alpha Rail with M-Lock handguard. The system also includes a VLTOR I-Mod 6-position stock matched with an 18-inch medium profile barrel with a smooth cycling rifle-length gas system. Engineered with Armornite coating for durability and corrosion resistance, competitors can expect a rugged yet accurate long gun for $1,579.

The M&P45 Shield gets a Performance Center touch with the addition of a ported version. The Performance Center M&P45 Shield is, of course, chambered in .45 and features factory ported barrels and slide. The porting aims to reduce muzzle flip which bring shooters back on target withe each shot. The pistol can be purchased with either HI-VIZ fiber optic sights, $609, or Tritium Night Sights, $742.

Smith & Wesson brings the Performance Center C.O.R.E. Slide Kit to consumers for the very first time in 2017. Each slide kit comes with a ported barrel and slide, with the slide cut to accept five different optic mounting plates. Also included are three C.O.R.E. style palmwells which allow for grip customization. Slide Kits start at $419.

Smith & Wesson hinted at the new products in an investor’s call in December , but finally released details in January ahead of the industry’s biggest event, SHOT Show. The company will premiere the new goods Jan. 17-20 in Las Vegas.
