Suspect in Kim Kardashian robbery says jewelry was melted down
The man who is being dubbed as the mastermind behind the $10 million Paris jewelry heist involving reality TV star and fashion mogul Kim Kardashian apparently admitted that all of the jewels – except for the famous 20-carat engagement ring – was melted down in Belgium.
Aomar Ait KIhedache, 60, said they have hung on to the ring, worth approximately $4 million, but “everyone was afraid to sell, because it’s a stone that’s very easily spotted.” KIhedache, who is known as “The Old Man,” also revealed that the robbery was a “very simple affair” and an “irresistible” opportunity after seeing Kardashian’s million-dollar jewels on social media.
Khedache is one of 17 people who were originally apprehended and one of ten now facing charges in connection with the armed robbery. He is being held without bail.
