NRA chief got $4 million bump in 2015
President Trump met with Wayne LaPierre after nominating a new Supreme Court Justice.
National Rifle Association executive vice president and chief executive officer Wayne LaPierre received a $4 million increase in pay from 2014 to 2015, according to tax documents reviewed by The Washington Post.
The NRA shelled out more than $5.1 million to LaPierre in 2015, the Post reports. On top of his nearly $1.1 million salary and $150,000 bonus, he received a $3.7 million retirement payout.
The gun lobby told the newspaper the bump was part of an employee funded deferred compensation plan. Experts described such a plan as “fairly typical” and suspect the timing of the payment had to do with LaPierre’s age and retirement date.
The NRA brought in more than $336 million in total gross revenue in 2015, an increase of about $26 million despite a drop in contributions.
