Teens charged for violent assault of disabled veteran (VIDEO)

Three young men – including two teens – were arrested in Daytona Beach Tuesday after they attacked a disabled veteran who told them to stop torturing a turtle outside of his apartment.

Garry Blough, 45, said his wife told him the three were outside smashing and kicking the turtle, so Blough told his wife to call the police and he went outside to tell them to stop.

Although the three stopped torturing the animal, they then turned their attention to Blough, a Navy veteran who now uses a walker after sustaining injuries while serving. The suspects – identified as Johnnie Beveritt, 18, Alfred Jose Chico, 16 and Ryan Ponder, 23 – punched and kicked Blough until he was a bloody mess. In fact, the three left Blough with a fractured skull and facial bones, a concussion, and a severe eye injury.

Beveritt, Chico, and Ponder were arrested and charged with aggravated battery and animal cruelty.
