Things we wish they would import: Flying flamethrower drone (VIDEO)

Footage has surfaced of power company employees in China using an octocopter equipped with a flame wand burning trash off power lines.

The unmanned hobby drone turned agile flying flamethrower looks to be a slightly modified DJI S1000 and has no trouble turning plastic bags and other debris into smoking ash.

According to reports, the drone is being used in Xiangyang, China to get to those hard-to-reach areas.

Here in the states, Connecticut armed drone hobbyist Austin Haughwout did the same thing with a DIY flame projector made from an in-line electric fuel pump that he used to roast a holiday turkey from a multi-rotor back in 2015.

In semi-related armed hobby copter news, U.S. and allied forces in Iraq have increasingly been encountering ISIS-operated RC aircraft such as this Phantom downed recently:

Some of which have been weaponized to drop grenades and mortar rounds– which leads us to the conclusion that we should be building our own army of flame drones to counter the threat.
