Primary Weapons Systems unveils Mod 2 MK107, MK111 rifles

Idaho-based gun and parts maker Primary Weapons Systems launched the Mod 2 MK107 and MK111 designed to give rifle shooters a lighter but stronger AR package.

With the MK107 chambered in .223 and the MK111 chambered in either .223 or .300 Blackout, these compact rifles offer shooters a manageable yet accurate platform. The MK107 is equipped with a 7.75-inch barrel length, bringing overall length to 24.6-inches. The MK111 utilizes a 11.85-inch barrel, bringing its overall length to 28.4-inches.

The rifles feature forged upper and lower receivers which produce a piece that is stronger than a billet part, yet lightweight. Both the MK107 and MK111 tips the scales at just over five pounds.

The Mod 2 rifles have been equipped with the new Mod 2 handguard featuring PicMod. PicMod technology allows any KeyMod attachment to mount anywhere on the rail while also enabling Picatinny rail attachments to mount directly on the PicMod rail. The result is more mounting options without the weight or width of KeyMod mounted Picatinny rail sections.

Further eliminating weight is the all-new Enhanced Buffer Tube. Constructed with strength and rigidity in mind, the EBT features more lightening cuts to reduce weight. Additionally, the platform is anodized in mil spec type 3 to offer a durable and corrosion resistant tube.

The adjustable, three position gas block put the power back into user’s hands, with the ability to fine tune shooting based on ammo and suppressor usage. Position one handles all types of ammo with no suppressor present while position two pairs low powered ammo with a suppressor. Position three rounds it out, handling normal suppressor use with normal and high powered ammo.

An enhanced trigger offers a mere 5.5 pounds in pull while an ambidextrous safety selector, bolt release and mag release open this platform up to lefties. Furniture-wise, the MK107 and MK111 sport Bravo Company grips and stocks as well as a lancer magazine. Both rifles retail for $2,049.95.
