Pennsylvania-based Lancer Systems announced in February that its SIG516, Sig716 and HK416 OEM-replacement handguards will feature M-LOK compatible.

Prior to the announcement, these handguards boasted a carbon fiber design with proprietary cooling slots. The construction resists heat associated with high volumes of small arms fire. The handguards are also rigid for heavy use. The free-float designs are direct replacements, precisely fit and reducing overall firearm weight.

The new compatibility integrates the versatility and accessibility of M-LOK with Lancer Systems’ innovative design.

“Customers can look at this as a sign of further developments for Lancer,” Business Area Manager Kas McManus said in a statement.

M-LOK, originally developed by accessories powerhouse Magpul Industries, is an accessory mounting system that allows for direct attachment to negative space mounting points. Compared to a standard Picatinny accessory rail, the M-LOK design provides a slimmer and smoother handguard.

No word yet on pricing, but Lancer’s M-LOK compatible handguards will premier at the National Rifle Association’s Annual Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia in April.
