Two men are dead following an exchange of gunfire outside of a St. Augustine, Florida, convenience store Saturday morning and authorities say the altercation stemmed from an ongoing argument online.
Canyon Charles Molitor, 25, was found dead outside of the King Food Mart, while Elroi Ishmael Ashley, 30, was taken to a local hospital where he later died.
Police say Molitor and Ashley agreed to meet at the store but a verbal altercation quickly escalated into brandishing of weapons and a gunfight. The entire incident – including the gunfire – unfolded around 10 a.m. as customers were walking in and out of the store.
The investigation, which will include forensic examinations and autopsy findings, is ongoing. Crime and safety analyst Gil Smith, who previously worked with the St. John’s County Sheriff’s Office investigating crimes, told local media that although both men are dead, an investigation will still be conducted in order to answer questions about the case.
