Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte this week spoke of a huge deal to equip the Philippine military with compact .45ACP pistols and cautioned troops to remember not to be captured by violent extremists.

As noted by local media, Duterte was on hand at Camp Gen. Artemio G. Ricarte in Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, to visit with Army and Naval troops on April 6.

Besides speaking of improving housing and benefits, the populist leader advised the government is purchasing 30,000 Glock 30 semi-auto pistols to help augment the sidearms currently used by the military in their long-running struggle with insurgents.

He also told the troops that, in combat, to reserve their last bullet “for emergency use.”

In using the guns, Duterte told the soldiers, sailors, and marines, “On the last bullet, put the pistol to your head and tell the enemy ‘f**k you.’ At least you die with dignity.”
