The illumiSAFE has officially launched its crowd-funded Kickstarter campaign, parent company Odon Safes announced Tuesday.

The illumiSAFE ditches the boxy, bulky look of traditional safes for a modern, techy approach that blends with home decor. The gun storage option consists of a durable safe compartment with security system, hidden inside the body of a lamp. The hidden compartment securely and discretely holds guns and other valuables until the user triggers an unlock sequence. Once the safe is unlocked, the compartment is propelled vertically to reveal its contents.

Odon CEO Burt Skiba said in a press release that his company is ecstatic to launch its product to the Kickstarter crowd.

“We are bringing the illumiSAFE to the world through Kickstarter, because we know people will love this product and we wanted to get it out to them as soon as possible,” Skiba said.

The illumiSAFE launch will be accompanied by several pricing plans; however early bird backers will receive the safe for the price of $649. Prices continue to climb from there depending on accessories. Delivery dates are estimated for September.

According to the Kickstarter page, Odon has already received 37 backers and a total of $11,762 has been raised towards its $50,000 goal.
