Colt is set to unleash a modern take on the classic Gold Cup Trophy design, updated to meet the needs of today’s elite, competitive shooters.

The new Gold Cup touts Colt’s competition ergonomics, including an undercut trigger guard and upswept beavertail grip safety. The pistol also features Colt’s Dual Spring Recoil System for better recoil mitigation.

Available in either .45 ACP or 9mm, the handgun boasts factory 25 LPI checkering on the front and rear strap of the grip, along with Colt branded blue G10 grips.

The Gold Cup is equipped with the Colt Series 70 firing system, which offers a reduction in the number of moving parts in the trigger assembly. The updated firing system also reduces overall weight and length of trigger pull for smoother performance.

“Everything about this pistol was designed to make it an affordable option for the professional competitor to engage in the most elite shooting match in the world,” Mark Redl, Team Colt Shooter and Product Manager for Colt, said in a statement.

“We started with our standard Gold Cup Trophy and upgraded it in the same ways that many enthusiasts and professionals do as they ship their beloved firearm around the country for costly specialty services. Now, for the cost of perhaps one or two of these services, you can buy a brand new Gold Cup with the upgrades right from the factory,” he added.

Both the 9mm and .45 ACP packages are priced the same, coming in at $1,699.
