Austin man suspected of plotting mass shooting indicted on firearms charges

An Austin man suspected of plotting a mass shooting in April has been indicted on federal firearms charges.
According to a news release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office of the Western District of Texas, 50-year-old Steven Thomas Boehle has been charged with possessing a firearm while being an unlawful user of a controlled substance.
The indictment specifies that Boehle allegedly possessed three semi-automatic pistols, and court documents show that the FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force obtained information that the defendant was plotting a mass shooting.
On April 12, authorities executed a search warrant at Boehle’s home and seized the three firearms and 1,000 rounds of ammunition. Two days later authorities searched the man’s storage unit and seized 10 long guns.
Boehle’s bond has been set at $10,000 and the man remains in custody while authorities review the release order.
If convicted, Boehle could face 10 years in prison.
