The National Rifle Association’s board of directors elected head of retailer Brownell’s to fill the honorary position of president at the organization’s annual conference last weekend in Atlanta.

Pete Brownell, who was elected to the board of directors in 2010, will replace Allan Cors as NRA president.

“I’m a proud NRA member from day one who grew up with a passion for guns, our rich hunting heritage, and a passion to strengthen our Second Amendment,” Brownell said in a statement.

Brownell is the chief executive officer of the Iowa-based retailer and has been an NRA life member since birth. His family founded Brownell’s in 1939.
