Dispatches from gun country: 'I’m a freedom loving guy and I am an individual'

Todd Causley loves to invite some friends over, light the barbecue, crack a cold beer and watch the Cubs play on the big screen tv he has set up in his yard. He also loves driving his 1975 Cadillac Eldorado to the local gun range to fire off a few hundred rounds with his friends. That, for Todd, is America.

I’m not here to tell anyone what to do, as I don’t want anyone telling me what to do. If I want to order giant steaks and ride around in my Cadillac Eldorado that burns a ton of gasoline, fine! But don’t tell me that I should have a little car that I can barely fit in.

The same goes for my right own guns. Don’t tell me if I can own a gun or not. I truly believe in our United States constitutional second amendment right to bear arms. I don’t want to hurt anyone, and I don’t want anyone to hurt me. But don’t you dare take away my right to protect my wife and family.

I love spending some time at the gun range. I really enjoy re-loading my own ammunition, and I especially like cleaning my guns. There’s nothing better. We all should have the right to protect ourselves. I’m a freedom loving guy and I am an Individual.
