Arkansas National Guard soldier becomes state’s first female to complete ITC training (VIDEO)

An Arkansas resident made military history Wednesday when she became the first female member of the Arkansas National Guard to complete the Infantry Transition Course (ITC), which will allow her to transition to infantry.

“I just want to be able to be on the front line like the guys,” said Staff Sgt. Tasheenia L. Wallace, who currently holds four Military Occupational Specialties.

One other female enrolled in the two week training at the Robinson Maneuver Training Center in North Little Rock, but Wallace was the only one who completed the course. However, Wallace said it was no easy feat.

“I’m a little overwhelmed because it was very physically and mentally demanding,” Wallace said. “I think that I’m physically in shape but coming through this course, it’s definitely an eye-opener.”
