The company has announced a line of hydro-dipped pistol caliber carbines paired with a black Konus scope and rings, aimed at hog hunters and the like.

Available in 9mm, .40S&W and .45ACP, the carbines come standard with a low power 1.5-5x32mm optic as well as the choice of either the Desert Digital or Woodland style camo option. Konus is an Italian-based optics maker and the particular glass offered by Hi-Point in the deal is normally pitched to shotgun, black powder, and slug gun applications, typically retailing for around $80.

In announcing the new series on their social media account, Hi-Point reps were quick to point out that the guns are envisioned for limited game choices, though they did later post several user-submitted photos of Hi-Point carbine fans with their deer harvest.

“Hi-point is not saying these will replace your traditional deer/elk rifles,” said a reply to a commenter. “We understand that many game animals should be hunted with more suitable calibers for many reasons, however, there are parts of the country and game that fit nicely into the PCC round like Hogs/ coyote/ jackrabbits/ and yes in some situations and circumstances Deer where legal.”

MSRP ranges from $459 for the 9mm through $482 for the .45ACP, with the .40S&W roughly splitting the difference.

In response to the internet shake up on Friday about our new Hunter series of carbines we felt it was worth re-sharing…
