Officers find felon with firearm during traffic stop

A routine traffic stop in Fresno on Friday ended with the arrest of a convicted felon who was found in illegal possession of a firearm.

Officers conducted a stop after witnessing a violation and found that multiple people in the car were on active probation at the time.

During the stop, officers patted down 19-year-old Laquentin Townsel, who was riding in the front passenger seat. Officers discovered Townsel, who is a convicted felon, had a loaded semi-automatic 9mm handgun with 16 rounds tucked away in the front waistband of his pants.

Townsel was arrested without incident and taken to the Fresno County Jail on numerous weapons charges.
