Wonders of Wildlife museum nominated for best new attraction

The world’s largest wildlife museum earned a nomination from USA Today this week for best new attraction.
The Wonders of Wildlife National Museum and Aquarium opened in Springfield, Missouri in September after more than a decade of planning by Bass Pro Shops CEO Johnny Morris.
The 350,000-square-foot attraction features 4-D interactive trails and exhibits with 35,000 species of fish, mammals, reptiles and birds. Morris said the museum will celebrate “people who love to hunt, fish and act as stewards of the land and water.”
“We are deeply grateful to the many remarkably talented individuals and world-class conservation organizations that have come together for the past nine years to help make this vision a reality,” he said. “It is our shared hope that the tremendous investment of time, energy and resources will have a profound, positive long-term impact on the future of hunting, fishing and conservation in America.”
The Wonders of Wildlife Museum is nominated alongside The Amazing World of Dr. Seuss Museum, the Museum of the Bible, Cedar Point Shores Water Park and the Institute of Contemporary Art, among others.
As of Thursday, the poll shows Wonders of Wildlife tracking in third place, behind Elvis Presley’s Memphis and runner up attraction Morgan’s Inspiration Island. Voting closes Jan. 1 at noon and USA Today will announce the winner Jan. 5.
Past winners include the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum and the Saint Louis Zoo.
