Shotgunners have a new load headed their way as Winchester Ammunition announced a new slug for its Deer Season lineup.

The Deer Season slug is slated to hit consumer shelves sometime this fall. The new slug features similar attributes to a traditional Foster-style slug but Winchester has tweaked the design pairing it with a rear stabilizer inserted into the heel of the projectile. The stabilizer travels downrange with the slug resulting in better accuracy, according to Winchester.

The shotshell is constructed to coincide with smooth bore, rifled choke tube or fully rifled barrels in addition to offering a large diameter tip for better energy transfer.

β€œThe new Deer Season slug will be a great addition to our slug-hunting cartridge options, particularly for those looking for excellent performance at an exceptional value,” Matt Campbell, vice president of marketing and sales for Winchester Ammunition commented in a press release.

The 12-gauge Deer Season Slug comes five rounds to a box with expected MSRP around the $7 mark.
