Getting in some range time with the new FN 509 Tactical (VIDEOS)

The newest iteration of FN’s bid for the Army’s Modular Handgun System is factory-ready for most mini red dots and suppressors– but how does it shoot?

To answer that question, Tim Harmsen with the Military Arms Channel spends some time with a commercially-caught 509 Tactical specimen on which he mounts an optic and Blackhawk can. While a lot of things go right, there is a moment of pause.

Featuring both 17- and 24-round magazines, the updated 509 comes standard with suppressor-height night sights and a threaded barrel for a retail of $1,049, suggested. The gun is compatible with a number of popular red dots including the Trijicon RMR Type II, Leupold Deltapoint Pro, Burris Fastfire III, and Vortex Venom, all with no milling needed and the ability to co-witness with the factory sights intact.
